Best of the best Freestyle Music Remixes

If I had to choose a favorite music style, such as when someone asks you what music genre do you like the most, I don’t think I’d be able to give an answer.
But, freestyle, is definitely one I keep close to my soul (if there’s such a thing).

According to Wikipedia, freestyle music is nothing more than a dance genre that emerged in the US in the early 1980’s.
Although similar in its wording, I definitively prefer Bad Boy Joe‘s definition:

I discovered freestyle music as it was being discovered in the US itself and I lived it all the way through, until its (almost) complete disappearance from the media.

Although a bit short, the journey was simply amazing and the mixes that were created with and specifically for it were simple a-maz-ing!

Many people in my age range (the 40’s, that is) remembers many of the most popular tracks, but a very few has had the privilege to experience the impressive works of art that were created by, mostly unknown, DJs and producers of the era.

If you ever liked Silent Morning, Show Me, IOU, Runnin’, Where Are You Tonight or For Tonight, just to name a few, you’ll love these remixes! […]

Dubstep? Hell yeah!

Every now and then comes a new music style that changes history; remember disco? or how about freestyle? techno?
Or, how about meren-house? […]

Michel Cleis – La Mezcla (Toto La Momposina) [Charles Webster’s Reprise Mix]

First of all, I had nothing to do with this track, but it has to be one of my favorite tracks of the 21st century — that’s why I’m including it in the blog.

I used to own (with a friend of mine) a club in Santiago (Dominican Republic) and this was always the last track we played to close the night.

People loved it. I loved it.
It is an amazing track. Enjoy…

Ace Of Base – The Sign [Marcelo Flix & Xavier Flix Remix]

This is my first collaboration with DJ Flix (my son).

The track was created to participate on a remixing competition at Indaba Music.
Although we didn’t get many votes, I still think it is, by far, one of the best submissions — at least, much better than the one that won the contest.

Everything you will hear in the remix was originally created using Ableton Live‘s Max & Nexus plugins.

4 Elementos

Well, this one I really like.
Some how my daughter’s dance teacher knew I did remixes and she asked for a fast paced mix that included some of the most popular tracks that were being played on the radio at that time, around 1998 (I think). […]
